Dr. Yuko J. Nakanishi
Dr. Yuko Nakanishi is the Principal of Nakanishi Research and Consulting, LLC, and Chair and long-standing member of the Transportation Research Board Committee on Critical Transportation Infrastructure Protection. She was Chair of its Subcommittee on Training, Education, and Technology Transfer from 2002 to 2011. Dr. Nakanishi also serves as a TRB-appointed member of the NCHRP 20-59 Surface Transportation Security Research Project panel and a panel member of the TCRP Project A-36, Command-Level Decision Making for Transit Emergency Managers. Her areas of expertise are Transportation Security, Emergency Preparedness, and Risk Management.

In 2014 and in 2006, she was recognized by the Transportation Research Board for her Service. Dr. Nakanishi is also a past Chair of the NY Area Data Council and examined a wide range of data-related issues including meta-data, data collection and analysis methods, data accuracy and consistency. She holds a Ph.D. in Transportation Planning and Engineering from the New York University Polytechnic School of Engineering, an M.S. in Civil Engineering from the City College of New York, an MBA in Management from Columbia University, and a B.A. in English Literature from Harvard University. Dr. Nakanishi also has a FEMA Emergency Management Professional Development Series Certificate and has completed numerous FEMA Emergency Management Institute Courses.
